T3hJudoChop, you are correct, I offered several opinions on the LARP.

heres another one.

How Many MMA people are there currently? and then How many actually have fights set up they are getting ready for? How many have had fights or atleast HOPE to do some?

Some of those people are LARPing the sport itself since they will NEVER EVER have a ring match nor even show up to a throwdown even.(caveate:some people may infact just be in it to be training partners for real fighters though)

and many, many times these MMA are offered up as better self defense coarses then other LARPs so don't even go into that "boxing isn't self defense" angle. I agree that atleast sports have this alternate real event some people can do in the ring, but in terms of self defense its LARPing just as EVERYTHING else is.

It was brought into this because Emin Boztepe refuses to prove his self defense skills in a Ring Sport. He offered a true no-rules fight to his challangers and they have all refused(except Bas Rutten who actually went to Boztepes gym in person but still asked for some sporty rules).

So in terms of Emin Boztepe proving if what he does is functional, MMA sport is a Fanatasy Combat LARP. It would be a simulation of what he trains for with major restrictions on his technique and a ref to stop things just when it gets going good.

if thats not clear: A Glove punching a check is a LARP of a thumb jamming into the neck. You people are demanding he play LARP with you.

Since you are "starting BJJ", which would make your overall style a "Mixed martial Art",

how many ring fights are you planning on attending?
