    Vee Arnis Jitsu

What do you guys think about this style? If you studied it, how did you like it? Honestly do you think, after studing VAJ, you feel more confident in a street fight?

"Who the **** lists their style as "Boxing & Vale Tudo"?!?"

uh...me. Why the heck is that a problem???

    "Who are you?"

I.....am Mr. Bojangles. I live in your bushes.

"What is your contact/connection with Vee Arnis Jitsu?"

I read an article on Chuck Zito and it said he studied VAJ (among other styles). So I figured I'll ask the Bullshido guys about its effectiveness.

    Thanks.

    - It's not really a style per say. What do you really do? And please for the love of all that is good a sweet in the world don't say something stupid like 'free fighting' or 'ultimate fighting'.

    - I've heard they have/had skills with knives. Beyond that I don't know much about them.

I train at a local Boxing gym here in Melbourne, FL. Vale Tudo was something I picked up from veiwing Mario Sperry's Vale Tudo series 1 DVDs. I plan on getting series 2 in the near future.

""Well that explains what the dogs were chewing on earlier.""

    I gave them rabies.

Seriously, if anyone here can give an informed answer it will be greatly appreciated.

Naszir beat me to it. Check that thread. GoldenJonas provided an ample descrition of VAJ based on experience. Read it and come to your own conclusions.

And HPv75, **** no, watching DVDs does not make you a Vale Tudo practitioner, and no, you cannot defend the guard. Fine if you want to learn Vale Tudo is great. Hopefully, you can learn from a qualified instructor.

But until then, you don't do Vale Tudo, you don't know Vale Tudo, and you cannot defend the guard.

Being interested in learning something is not the same as claiming to know something from watching a DVD.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris
