one of my students teaches massage therapy at a local school..and my ex GF went to another Massage therapy school. That's why I know if Layn Von Erich is advertising "massage therapy services" he would have to be schooled and licensed under the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. (Same dept that licenses combatives/MMA/Boxing).

There's been speculation about this individual on a martial arts forum.
I would like to know if there is a Layn Von Erich in the Von Erich family
and if he is a Mixed Martial Artist.
I didn't see any mention of him on your families website.
He's listed in the fight card for this MMA event
as "From a famous wrestling family"
I am hoping to get a determination whether he is a fraud or not because there is speculation surrounding the lack of information about him on the net.

There is no Layn Von Erich that is a member of the Von Erich family, nor does he have permission to use the Von Erich name.

I just googled Layn and saw the discussion on a message board concerning him. He did contact me asking for permission to use the Von Erich name and I informed him that he needed to contact the WWE legal department. Looks like he ignored me and went ahead and used the name anyway.
In closing. he has no right to actually use the Von Erich name and if thats the credential he got on the fight card with. I suppose it was a dishonest and fradulent method. although I can sympathize if he really needs the cash. I still don't think its an admirable action.

Has anyone contacted the King Of Combat promoters?
I have the Layn Von Erich flyer on my desk. In that flyer are pics & claims of Layne being an MMA Champion. Hope the claims pan out true.
I'll scan and post it.
I just sent the promoter a link to this thread and I hope he joins the discussion. and I'd be interested in seeing the flyer as well.

Here you go...
The flyer was given to me by one of my students...and is the same one passed around Chang Lee's TKD/Mesquite. I am also told that this Layn Von Erich character is soliciting the area TKD schools for students. Teaching his brand of MMA.
That student tells me that Layne has a strong resemblance to Guy Metzger. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ocviao29g7I

LOL! That dude doesn't look anything like Mezger.
Besides, Guy is about as legit as they get and he's WAY to busy with the IFL, WCL, Art of War, and running the Lion's Den to go around pretending to be a Von Erich...
How funny would that be though, if he had a secret life like Batman, but instead of a crimefighter he was... well, this dude...

The Austin fights are in two days, he is listed on the card. I'll try and make the weigh-ins, but I'll be backstage on fight night for sure.
FYI, on these smaller shows it's not uncommon for some guys listed to not fight, and for a few guys not even listed to actually fight.
You cornering for Nick?

of what exactly?
still doesn't list the extent of his experience in those arts.
Meaning it could be anything from a mail-in black belt cert, to a seminar cert to direct training under Dan Inosanto in JKD and Saekson Janjira for MT.
He just doesn't specify...
and I tend to be of the opinion that any flyer shamelessly dropping Bruce Lee's name is kind of a red-flag.
I can't make the tournament this friday because of prior engagements
but please let us know how it turns out.
