It seems like it relies too much on the guy on top having a terrible half guard top game. You should pretty much never be in that position on top.

But I have had my best luck getting the leg trapped after say a failed sweep attempt to that legs side where the guy on top bases out and especially if he sits up in my half guard. Because when they are in that up position their leg is already half way to where you want it. And so far when I have gotten the leg so far as to being trapped I haven't had anybody wiggle out of it. Not to say it can't or won't happen. That's why I posted this to see if there is a valid point to this position or if is more risk than i need to take.

This is a hip lock. Really easy to get out of. This is registered as "if I get caught with this I should hide my face or kill myself" maneuver .:seppuku: or "this guy is such a newb that'll I'll do something asstastic and he'll think I'm cool".

Gotcha. Just never seen it before and neither has anybody I drill with. but in all actuallity that doesn't really say that much since none of us have any formal Jiu Jitsu training.

Well you can put it away as things you 'could' do but, I wouldn't put it into my 'reliable submission' arsenal.

Ah hell!!! It's by no way a go to manuver. Just happened upon it while rolling and anything that makes the other guy go "OWWWWWWW!!!!! WHAT THE **** WAS THAT!!!" reqires at least a little attention. I am not comfortable in half guard enough to play with this too much. I either sweep or work back to full guard.

Working out of town last week I happened into a gym and they were more than happy to let me squat there for a week and train with them. Rolling with one of there upper end guys found me quickly swept from mount into a pile of legs, elbows and ass then into him having me in side control. I managed to work a leg back in and get back in half guard. I managed to pop out of a descent kimura attempt and found myself in a position to try this and did. It worked like a charm the first time. Then after "walking" through it several times slowly then at speed he found it easier and easier to stuff the attempt. The overall view was something like this. "If the mother fucker has never seen anything like this game over". But it seriously pan out to be an easily preventable manuver. I'd wager JJ/BJJ/Sub Grapplers wouldn't fall for this or panic if caught in it.
