    Leg submission need help........

    I'll just post in Gitmo from the get go so I don't get butt hurt over being booted out of DHS. But I need help IDing a leg submission I stumbled onto by complete accident. I'll just describe it from a first person perspective as it happened so please bear with me.

    I had a teammate in half guard on my right side. And I wound up with him cross body to me with both my arms free. As in my upper boody was between his left arm and his hip. I still had his leg tied up in my half guard and was using a pathetic excuse for a calf compression. When I put the squeeze on his calf he forgot about trying to secure an arm, head n arm or underhook for a second. In that time I grabbed his left ankle with my right hand and pulled it back under my left armpit and secured the foot by the toes under my left arm. Then reached back under his knee with my right arm and going over his leg with my left arm (still securing the foot). A simple gable grip and I hugged the leg to my chest and twisted my upper body towards his head.

    So basically it's like bending you leg back onto itself, securing it and grabbing the knee and rotating it backwards and over to that legs side of the body.

    I would have dismissed it as dumb fucking luck. But I have since done it deliberatly a number of times with the same positive result. As in they yelp, tap and ask "what the **** was that?!?!?!". And it has been described as a pain/joint lock. As in it seriously streches and pulls the Quad muscle and if taken further it puts a serious twisting pressure on the hip. Does this sound like anything formally taught??? None of use at my gym have more than a rudementary background in BJJ and we are at a loss. Never seen it done, never heard of it and our judo dude says it new to him. Figure I'd ask you guys.

    I think it is the Banana Split. You had his right leg locked down, grabbed his left leg with gable, and rolled up to your left side, trying to pull your body towards his head, which stretched his legs into a wide split, yes? If so, that's the normal defense for someone that rides their free leg up too high in half guard. If they don't tap out to it, you continue rolling up, thread out between the legs and scramble for back control. If not, pics will definitely determine what it is.

    It sounds like you're doing a straight footlock to his free leg while controlling his hip by keeping half guard on his other leg. It's not a "normal" way to do the straight footlock, but it seems like essentially the same thing...

    I'm picturing this:


    With the stretched leg coming across the body.

    Depending on a person's flexibility, you could:
    a) Tear one or more of their quadriceps muscles
    b) Tear one or more of their iliopsoas muscles
    c) Put painful pressure on their illiofemoral or pubalfemoral ligaments, and possibly cause a tear
    d) Put painful pressure on the collateral ligaments in their knee, and possibly (but more likely than the above) cause a tear

    How about "Wood Splitter". Couple of the guys I got it on said it felt like I was going tear their groin out.
