Please tell me you understand the difference between being able to hit a standing open target and being able to hit a moving target intent on doing harm to you. Because if you're actually using that question as a way to validate the training, you are very very wrong.

Sure. I will try and grab your daughter and throw her in the broom closet to simulate a someone grabbing her off the street and throwing her in a car. She may resist as hard as she possibly can.

What do you think the outcome will be?

Of course there is a difference. But suggesting that non-contact sparring trains people to hold back their punches is like suggesting the BJJ trains people to let their attacker go once they tap out.

Right now she's learning not to spin and top keep her guard up. She can learn that without getting knocked silly. She's not learning point fighting, if she has a clear shot to punch someone on the face she'll take it regardless of ITF and WTF regulations it just won't hurt.

Not very good. Short of firearms training, what forms of self defense work in kid vs adult scenarios?

Actually, I think Matt W.'s idea would make a great drill for children's MA classes.

The timing to hit a moving target with a strike powerful enough to stun or knock out is COMPLETELY different than the timing to crank an already locked in submission a bit further to cause actual damage.

I have trained with Master Ameris on several occasions. How I know him is not important. If you really want to find out, there are threads devoted to that here.

Good Evening Errant108, As fate would have it, it would seem to be true that Master Ameris did indeed study under Father Connolly and SeJong TKD.

He received his first Degree from Father and was later assisted by Father when choosing the proper commercial venue.

And yes, this is reliable and may be confirmed by Phillip Ameris. Though our world is large it is nice to know that it is also small. Good life to you.
