Yes, he was, and if Brown claims to be teaching Laotzu's methodology, then he's even more of a fraud.

    Good.

Next time you go to Korea, go to Hwagyesa. It's a temple very near Seoul that has a center for teaching foreigners. The head teacher there is Pohwa-seunim. His teacher, and the Abbot of Hwagyesa, is Myobong-daesa.

My name is MuSsang. Pohwa-seunim is my teacher. I am the only American he has licensed to the Cheolryun Gwonbeop, Korean Zen Boxing. I teach Buddhism, martial arts, and "mindfulness" at Gakhwangsa, Pohwa-seunim's temple outside of Baltimore, Maryland.

So when I say that Brown is woefully unqualified to be teaching what he claims to teach, you now understand exactly what I mean.

My point is that he never claimed to teach buddhism, just simply mindfulness. If he reads it out of a book, how is it any different from us doing it our self? He is only exposing people to not, Not taking people through the rituals. I just don't see any problem with that and from there, like I did, many people find there own paths in the martial arts. If we was professing these claims i would have to agree with you but that was never the case.

The fact you don't see a problem is quite scary.

Edit: After pondering your statement further, it is actually kind of ironic considering the accusations leveled against the OP.

Wrong. He claims to teach Buddhism. He claims to teach Buddhist martial arts. Zen is Buddhism. He wears the same robes that monks do in pictures on his website. Mindfulness meditation is derived from the Anapanasati Sutra. There is no denying of this.

What he teaches isn't mindfulness. That's what you don't understand. What he teaches is self-delusion. It is hinderance in sheep's clothing.

This is not Mushin. This is fortune cookie, kung fu movie bullshit. This is complete attachment to form, trapped in delusive doctrine and dogma.

IIF and Der have to learn not to pick on the retards.

Seriously, if Sifu Brown can't find any better (read: more intelligent) students than the ones represented here, the point, set, and match are made.

Seriously, I'd rather hang out and practice with Sifu Brown's students than have anything to do with a guy that thinks it's ok to use the word 'retard'.
