Bas Rutten's "left straight"

Can anyone with his material elaborate on what this is, and if it's just a jab with more step and hip in it than normal? I saw him say the jab is not a good weapon in mma against grapplers since it isn't powerful enough to stop the opponent, where his left straight is a potential ko.

use the search function to find Jack Dempsey's Championship Fighting, my bet is thats where bas gets his straight left from. you will learn how to apply it and why it rocks.

Forget about the left straight, Bas's best attack is clearly the "Dangita, Dangita, Dang".

But seriously it has to be the same thing Dempsey covered in his book Championship Fighting. There are only so many ways to throw effective punches.

The 'left straight' is taken from Jack Dempseys Championship Fighting methods. Instead of a jab its a straight punch with a vertical fist.
Driving Off with the rear leg with your left elbow in line with your left Hip.
(Kinda Like a 'Chun' Punch - it's good to follow up with a Big Right!)
