it all depends on how much newaza you do. You'd be at an advantage in the takedown department for sure. You just better train a good amount of submissions and ground work to have a chance of finishing a match though.

I was their long day i lost my no gi match, won my first gi match and then lost my second gi match. My 1st competition i made alot of dumb mistakes. Any way judo is def a plus but like said above train submissions.

Thats what i was thinking, cause a takedown is worth 2 points, so id be ahead already, i would just have to work on my submissions a little more.

NAGA is heavily focused on newaza, so if you aren't well versed in submissions, you'll be at a disadvantage. You get 2pts for a takedown, but you get more for positional dominance and submission attempts.

I went on saturday. I placed 4th in my no-gi division (3 out of 5, there were over 30 guys in my division), and went 1 and 1 in gi. All my wins were subs, but a lot of the matches went to points.

It was a ton of fun. I'd definitely do it again, but I need to get my cardio up. 7 matches killed me. Each loss, all by sub, were b/c I was too tired to keep fighting, not because the sub was sunk that deeply. Oh well, live and learn.

I was there. I broke some asian kids arm really bad on Mat 1 because he refused to tap... I have it on video. I gave him like 30 seconds and I was asking the ref to stop the match before I cranked it.

Holy ****, what a dumbass. It sucks that you had to go that far, but what else could you really do?
