Desquerdes

Does anybody train with these? I just got the James Keating and Pete Kautz Desquerdes DVD, and I've been inspired to make a few and get to work.

yes, & they're quite easy to make out of PVC, rope, & a few tennis balls.

Start slow, these things can snap back worse than double-end bags.

I hope that they cover more in the vid than construction of the equipment.
They cover drills, don't they?

I agree, JAK must be a fun guy to know. I check out the maajak site a few times a week to see what he's got up. Sometimes interesting, sometimes informative, & sometimes kooky, but never boring!

They cover lots of drills, using it as a hanging device, hanging with a rattan ring, on the ground as a quadrant boundary and using it for grappling.

Its from Alliance Martial Arts.

I'm going to the hardware store in a few minutes to get the supplies. He mentions that traditionally they are heavier and wood, and eventually it may be useful to make one. What do you think of a heavier wooden one?
