Effective Wing Chun? 138mws's Combat Wing Chun

    Hello!

So I have a passing interest in JKD and Wing Chun, and came across this channel on YouTube featuring a guy who looks like he knows his JKD/Wingchun in a practical sense.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtAyR1Kl_c8

He gives good advice in general (in the videos I've seen), he is fast and incorporates some Sambo style take downs--along with Aikido style lock and take downs.

Now, his training partners are very compliant, he never shows any proper sparring videos of himself or students fighting under pressure, his videos also lack aliveness, although they look cool.

So my question is, is this guy doing good, applicable, practical Wing chun? I know he won't do very well in the ring, but what about an average street/bar fight against one opponent?

Or does his stuff just look cool?

I'm not seeing anything new there, 100% compliance and a lot of talk. It's the usual Chun problems.

AKA it just LOOKS good, nothing new ? I'm so disappointed :( so I guess Paul Vunak is still the standard for applicable JKD/Wing Chun?

watch closely. the people throwing punches throw their punches at his hands. one of the biggest things i think is fucking stupid about WC is the amount of time they spend trying to attack the other persons hands. try just straight cracking the guy in the mouth and **** gets interesting.

Why...would anyone teach to attack the hands? That's just obviously counter-productive to a combat situation. Did anyone check out his other videos to maybe get a better insight into his fighting? He has some self defense ones.

Didn't have to go far to find this dude talking smack about boxing and making sport vs street and generally FOOMing and POOMing like in the first video.

Sorry Rabbit, but I've got to agree with Master Wong on this one

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Unless it's a 24 hours clock then it's only right once.
