I believe Ricco Rodriguez won his KOTC championship match with a kneebar, so its very applicable
I believe that 2000 called and wants it's observation back.

I think we all need to watch Stephan Kesting's Dynamic Kneebars (yeah, I know, shameless plug, but it also answers a few of the questions of technique vs power):

I made his drills DVD a staple at my gym. His Omo DVD is awesome as well.

Kesting within striking range...it caroms off his foot and.....GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!1!11!

Paulson, Kesting, (for those fans of 2000) Shannon Ritch, these are the names I'd expect answering this question best. I think if you work enough with leglocks, you get good with them. Isn't there a thread called "You get good at what you use" or some such? Same principle.

Leg locks for me are awesome because most people don't drill them..... period. if everybody else stressed leg/ankle/hip/toe holds as much as I did it would be no fun. Fact of the matter is theres is more than enough action available south of the belt (fight wise you perverts) as there is north. It's only an advantage if you are better at it than the othr guy.
