Hey wait, is this Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat? I'm so confused. If its Street Fighter, you should play as Yun. Its a pretty good video game version of a southern style.

You'd have to be playing different games as Yun is 3rd Strike and Zangief isn't. Although Hugo is still pretty close. [/nerd]

No, wait. Doesn't Guile have a 2 hit-alternating-leg-foot sweep? Booyah. Just bust that out, you'll double your odds of takin down your opponent.

Seriously, learn some Judo sweeps/reaps.

shaolin-do is the most comprehensive martial art in the world, and they haven't taught you how to sweep someone's legs out from under them?

well they have taught me, I'm just not getting the power I know is necessary to take both legs out from under someone.

and for all of those asking yes, somewhat similar to the mortal combat sweeps, but ya know they can actually work.

Would you be able to be provide a video of what you're talking about? Perhaps you could film yourself to show us where you're having trouble?

I'm not sure what you mean, and I'm equally unsure why you don't a) learn and incorporate a sweep from judo, or b) learn and incorporate a muay thai low-roundhouse kick (they're damn effective as a "sweep"). If you don't want to learn these techniques because you want to keep your art 'pure,' well... why exactly shouldn't you evolve and incorporate what works instead of what is older/chinese-er.

Lastly, I'm sure you don't actually mean "like mortal combat" as the mechanics of those sweeps are way-off - you need to study some virtua-fighter-do! (sorry, I was like the only kid ever who actually bought a sega saturn).
