Well it can't be worse than that MTV true life show about kit cope.
Thanks for the links, KidSpatula.
I thought the "Human Weapon" was pretty good considering the crap that usually passes for martial arts in television or other forms of pop culture. Even going to our local library and checking out the MA books there - so fucking terrible. Lots of myths that aren't even questioned. Then something like "Human Weapon" comes along and has some promising aspects - looking at how specific moves are done, training, ect - but it still comes off as kinda hokey - which it has to considering that the majority of their audience, let's face it, isn't going to know much about Muay Thai.
It seems that with MMA, Muay Thai has won a lot of respect and a large following. To me, it's no coincidence that they picked MT to be in the first episode. But we know what happens when any MA get's huge - craptastic McDojos start appearing - using brick breaking, forms, ect. It sucks that they can use this show as an example of how these things are "practiced in Thailand" and will take up filler time at these places.
Screw all of you. How do you hate MT "too deadly for the ring" vs "sport" MT? Plus, it was like a real life Kickboxer movie were the JCVD gets tooled.
I gotta agree with KidS. That show sucked - maybe not as much as "Fight Science", but still. To have a pair of martial arts experts asking a pro MT coach if the "Hanuman" double-fist-punch-to-the-chin can work in the ring was uber-retarded.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris
Agreed, with emphasis. I was yelling at the TV when they practiced it, "Your elbows are hitting his chest before your fists get to his face, you stupid ****!"

On a lighter note, at least it didn't suck as much as Fight Science
