WTF is up with Pride on FSN

They edit these long matches down to about 5 to 8 minutes, on average. the crowd shots are annoying, I ask myself the same question. But if you record it on HDR/TiVO like I do, the strikezone, crowd pans, all of that is less annoying because it allows me to see 4 fights in about 20 minutes, instead of watching 10 fights on a 40$ PRIDE DVD, with only about 2 good fights, and 8 fights with asome Karate-do-Fu guy having his ass handed to him by a debut grappler/g'n'p'er/serious striker. Sadly, I think that is all we'll be seeing of PRIDE for awhile in the US, since the Fertitta's bought it out. They've had matches in Japan since the sale, but all of the DVD's for past bouts have been pulled from store shelves, at least in Texas and Alaska (the only two states I can confirm, in Wal-Mart, K-mart, and Best Buy).

I am hoping Zuffa keeps PRIDE going...praying, in fact, as I have always liked the format better than UFC. I mean, seeing Fedor or his brother fight, the Nogueras, Rua, Wandy, etc...UFC can't beat those guys. UFC has too many G'N'P specialists, which are boring to me. Their average training regimen must include "Lay on guy. Check. Punch every 15 seconds. Check. Breathe through mouth. Check. I am all ready for the cage." Not so in PRIDE where the ref stands you up for no action in 10 seconds, then gives out yellow cards for 10% pot reductions. That really motivates G'N'P specialists to flurry punches, work for position, and get after it when they fight.

The canned crowd shots in the middle of the best action is extremely annoying. A fighter finishes a takedown and secures mount, then they cut to 5 seconds of the crowd cheering or some Japanese girl crying, and by the time they cut back either the fight ended or the bottom man escaped to guard.

OTOH, the gratuitous crowd shot of Hershell Walker giving the thumbs up every single episode is pretty funny. Must be an inside joke or something.

I wouldn't even consider watching the FOX Pride show without DVR. With it, it's a 22 minute show.

Is this the same network that doesn't show repeats of the good KOs?

I work when it comes on and I swear we watched a repeat with a slam knockout. We all hopped up to see the replay and it went to commercial. We waited around for the replay and they started the next match.
