M & P or Px4

Well it's that time again. I'm looking to buy a new gun as I'm sick of carrying around this S&W .45 POS duty weapon when I'm off duty. Now I've been told to get a 9mm due the mag capacity and the updated round technology which puts it on par with the 40 and 45's. out there in terms of damage, but less recoil, etc. I've also been told to avoid the .40 due to the weird recoil which is an up and back motion versus the push back of the 45 and 9. I don't know how legit that is being that I've never fired a .40 cal anything. So I was looking at the PX4 and the SW M&P. I'm open to other models as well. I'm trying to keep the price in the 450-475 range. Anything cheaper would be a boon. Comments, advice and suggestions are all welcome and encouraged please.

Updated round technology? Different recoil for .40? Okay...

Does your department have a pet monkey who knows sign language?

I'm surprised you haven't considered the .357 as a round, take a peek at it's ballistics. The 10mm isn't bad either.

State why.

It was the guns at the gun store stating about the rounds and the recoil.

Regarding the .40, the guy said that the gun recoil has an upward snap versus a back and forward recoil motion.

As for the 9mm rounds, that's in reference to the +,b+ rounds.

You'll shoot what you enjoy.

Rent them and report back.

I have a hard time seeing past Glocks, 1911s, and revolvers.

After those it starts getting gimmicky, imo.

$315, 16+1 capacity in 9mm. The only complaints I've seen is with a strong trigger pull, which can always be adjusted.

The gun stores/ranges don't rent anything special. Just the usual glock, etc. I've asked to shoot the px4. No dice. I've shot the M & P .45 model from our department try outs. They're actually testing them out after using the .45 4566 for 10 years... I hate this place.
