    Thoughts on Yoga?

    So I stopped all MA for now while I do physio.

    But I am finding I need to do some physical activity as doing nothing is bad for me.

    I have done Pilates I like it and all, but it's more about strengthening your core muscles. I need something that involves long deep stretches.

    Is Hot Yoga the answer?

    The wear very gay looking hot pant things. And no one - not even myself wants to see me in one.

    However I am desperate to get my back fixed up.

    Thoughts? Opinions? Mocking suggestions and insults?

    Anyone?

    If your back is fucked up I'd think that a pt and pt workouts is probably better. Yoga fucked my back up.

    Hot (Bikram) or Iyengar Yoga should be good for your back Soju (just make sure you talk to the instructor before hand). With Iyengar, in particular, they use props and blocks to accomodate for back problems.

    Ashtanga Yoga is like the KK or Muay Thai of Yoga. Great ****, but it can turn your back to **** if you are injured.

    Oh, and yeah, yoga chicks are hot, pliable and open to experimentation :evil6:

    Yoga is awesome, but there are two small things for which to watch out.

    1) There are some poses that stress the ligaments rather than, or in addition to, streching the muscles and tendons. I forget the name of one particular asana off the top of my head, but it's basically a double Hurdler's Stretch. BAD, do not do it, and a few other ones. Most are safe.

    2) Some Yoga instructors will push you -metaphorically and literally. Partner-assisted stretching is correctly frowned upon more and more, but there's a lot of people still into it. Yoga teachers can get pretty fanatical, and some will sincerely believe they're helping you while they force you to strech further then you can on your own.

    I'm sure you yourself wouldn't have a problem telling someone to chill, but I've known people who have gotten strains and sprains because they were intimidated by the instructor into going to far.

    Overall, though, I think it's great.
