is this a first for MMA? where both fighters test positive?
not that i want this to happen, but shouldn't this be the classical example of where a fight should be ruled a no contest?
speaking from the POV that diaz got a no contest against gomi....which to me was a huge injustice, considering what the positive test was for.

I can't imagine Sherk would use any performance enhancer. Did anyone else see that UFC All Access clip where he went on about eating cleanly, taking care of his body, and hard training being the only way to get results?
Probably going to be an appeal. Sucks about the purses, too.

IMO, neither of them should be punished (besides the fine which was equal for both fighters) becuase they were both dosed in the same match. That makes it pretty much even.

At least I liked that Franca mentioned the purse differences between lightweights and heavy weights. Right or wrong, LW have to deal with such economic pressures. It's not an excuse as Franca said, but it's an interesting explanation that puts him in a real-life situation.Read this for flexibility and injury prevention, this, this and this for supplementation, this on grip conditioning, and this on staph. The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

Ben Johnson carried on the exact same way, about clean living and what not, and they found enough steriods in him to beef up an elephant. I am not saying I think Sherks elevated levels are from natural causes or from the use of performance enhancing drugs. Franca, at least, came clean about it so there is no doubt.
I am at the extreme other end of the spectrum from Nieldo. I feel that if it is proven, after rigorous investigation, a fighter has used a performance enhancing drug they should be seriously punished. 1 year is pretty good, but I wouldn't stop there. If they are a title holder then they should vacate their title and not give them a title shot until they have fought their way back up the ranks from dead god damne last.Amateur MMA record: 8-3-1
