Thanks. This is the first time I've ever had to really try to cut weight. When I used to compete in TKD, I was always within 3-5 pounds of the top end of my weight division (LW) and would start working to get to my target weight weeks in advance of any tournaments. Also, weigh-ins for those tournaments were always the same day as the tournament, so drastic weight-cutting measures weren't much of an option for anyone.

Well, I made weight. I went to the gym at 11:30, weighed in at 186.7, put on a t-shirt, long sleave t-shirt, hooded sweat shirt and gi pants, did five minutes going hard on the ellipse, then sat in the sauna and stretched and did light execrcize (walking, low power shadow boxing and kics) for 30 minutes. Got back on the scale and I was 185.8. Put back on my sweat gear and got in my truck, which I'd left parked in the sun on the parking garage roof, and cranked up the heater for the drive to the Crocket Center. Took me 25 minutes to get to the Crocket Center and I was sweating like a pig the whole way. I was pretty sure that I'd make weight, but was surprised that I weighed in at 183 on their scales. I think their scales must be a pound or more light, 'cause no way I lost 2.8 pounds in 25 minutes. But, whatevers, I made weight and am no working on rehydrating.

So I hear. A friend and former student (I teach massage therapy) is the former middle weight champ of California, once ranked #6 in the world (back in the day), who still coaches.
