I trained with Tim Cartmell for a couple of years. He's the "real deal". The only teacher I've met who has the complete package. He still fights competitively in Bjj, I think he won the Silver at the mundial in Brazil last year for his weight class. He has a really complete understanding of stand up and ground fighting. He can throw people like you wouldn't believe, and his ground game is truly awesome.
Tim would likely tell you that he hasn't had to integrate "IMA" concepts into his Bjj, but that they are already there, and that all the top Bjj guys use them. Tim is really into practical application of technique, and wouldn't teach anything that he doesn't believe would work in a fight. If you have the opportunity to train with him you really should. If you want to learn how to practically apply Chinese internal he's likely the best source you're going to find. And he's still young enough to show you how to do it himself.

Moving around in So Cal and going to different clubs I've met and trained with guys who are under Cleber. If he's a blackbelt under Cleber, he's badass.

Did you ever travel out to New Mexico with Tim to do help with a seminar? I remember that a guy named Chris, who was also a black belt in Aikido, came out to help him one time.
