Wow an actually decent review of a school with no drama? Nicely done.
The only thing I'd ask you to do is look at Bullshido's RatingsFAQ. By your description, the school would probably be a three maybe a four in striking instruction.Last edited by It is Fake; 1/09/2009 10:03am at .
The hood mentality is crippling disease, that attacks your nervous system. It makes you nervous of the system. Gangsters and hood rats are especially susceptible to this growth stunting mentality. I've been trying to edit it every hour since I posted it. For some reason as soon as I save my changes to the original post I get 404'd.

The examples are too few). The 4 -5 cateogry is listed as "Striking for punching/kicking only and/or limited purposes (demonstration, highly restrictive sport)" and I thought, well, they teach kicking, punching, elbows and knees, as well as open-palm strikes, so it isn;t "punching/kicking only" and they don't teach these techniques for demonstrations (like Wushu) or restrictive sport (like TKD) so I figured I'd give it a six. I wanted to give it a four or five but felt that those numbers didn't fit the category. But then again, it's Wing Chun punching and blocking that they teach, which drags it down...
Edit - finally managed to edit the originial document. Changed the rating, but only down to a five. They practice their kicks quite hard and fast, as well as the punches, elbows and knees, when hitting mits/pads/kick-shields. They also work quite a lot on [what they consider to be] good technique whilst striking hard. I think a 5 is fair.Last edited by Rask; 1/10/2009 5:44am at .

5 is right, I mixed the Aliveness with the striking explanation. Sorry about that, still a good review and I'm glad you moved it down.

Yeah good review, I trained with Bruce a handful of times and really enjoyed his teachings, very friendly, Sarah was good too. But unfortunatly guys like Bruce just don't mix up there training enough, although they are teaching a Wing Chun system, that does'nt really incorporate ground work, so i guess that needs to be understood. But I used to hate always throwing wing chun punches all the time, and after i'd done some boxing it really screwed them up. But at the end of the day it's up to you to advance your training, and go in the direction you want to, and I reckon Bruce would probably understanding of that.
goodluck in the future champ! -

Hey Pete, I remember you as a top bloke. Your son's a cool guy too. I only left LKF last year - best of luck with your training. :) I definately feel that LKF is the best place in Melbourne to learn Wing Chun, in comparison with the other WC schools in Melbourne I've seen/experienced and heard about.
