Man dies at UFC 73 event
Ultimate Fighting Fan Jumps Ledge Outside Arco Arena, Dies
Police Say Accident Due to Misjudgement
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A Merced man attending an ultimate fighting event at Arco Arena died from injuries sustained when he jumped over a ledge at the venue Saturday night and fell more than 30 feet, Sacramento sheriff's investigators said.
Eraldo Cano, 26, was at the UFC 73: Stacked event when he went outside for a smoke break.
Authorities said Cano hopped over a short wall, probably thinking there was a lawn on the other side. Instead, it was a fall of 30 to 40 feet to the concrete below.
Investigators on Sunday ruled out foul play and called Cano's death an accident.
Man dies in fall at Arco event

A Merced man fell to his death from a smoking balcony at Arco Arena on Saturday night during an Ultimate Fighting Championship show, officials said.
The 30- to 40-foot fall was an apparent accident, said Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesman R.L. Davis, who said the department provides security to the arena on a contract basis.
Sacramento coroner's officials identified the man as Eraldo Cano, 26.
Davis said Cano was in a smoking section accessible from the inside of the arena about 8 p.m., when he went over the 3-foot wall of the balcony, apparently not realizing the length of the drop. The man fell on the pavement on the northeast side of the arena and was taken to UC Davis Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at 10 p.m.
Davis said deputies are still investigating the incident and await toxicology tests to learn whether alcohol played a role in the death.

I don't get it. He would have to be one unlucky absent-minded dude to take that fall. The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

I know that people die from smoking but this is ridiculous.

Yeah, this guy accurately represents the intelligence of those who are from Merced.

He was probably drunk.
I recently lost a friend myself in a similar manner. Fell down a cliff drunk while taking a piss.

Cano = Kano?
Maybe Jigoro Kano is really alive, but someone had figured out his identity and so he had to fake his own death AGAIN (since he's immortal and all) so that he can go on hanging out with Bas Rutten and not be swamped by paparazzis.
