Kali De Leon
He might be related to my teacher who runs a offshoot of Modern Arnis called Arnis De Leon here in the DFW.
The Guy even kind of looks like my teacher.
What lineage does he claim? Pekiti Tirsia Kali or Modern Arnis?
My teachers lineage is Modern Arnis / Okinawan Karate-Judo and is one of Remy Presas' original students. (before the good professor went on his seminar circuit binge)
As for feedback on the school... alot of the curriculum from what i can gather on the site seems like standard FMA. (Aliveness/Flow) but whether they truly train with aliveness is another issue.
As usual just go, check it out.
Check for how they train (Compliant or not depending on what kind of drill)
Any ground work? take downs?
Are they just flicking the sticks or spinning them around like a baton? or are they actually stick fighting?
Check for the punyo length (usually no longer than a fist should be appropriate)
How does the school's environment make you feel, and most importantly how does the teacher come off to you?Last edited by variance; 7/16/2007 1:51am at .

Guro Doug Marcaida of Pekiti Tersia has nothing but good things to say about Guro Jun. Jun's worked with, sparred with, held his own against Gaje. He also has Dan Inasanto's respect.
As far as Guro Jun's lineage, I can't answer that. I know that he's been involved with Gaje and Pekiti Tersia over the years, and still travels to the PI for training camps.
The instruction in Toronto is top notch. I know that Guro Doug is a distance student of Jun's, travelling the four hours from Rochester for instruction.
Definitely check out the school.

For those interested, here's Guro Jun's bio:

Let me stress that just about everyone who I respect in the FMA respect Guro Jun. I can give him no better recommendation than that.

I don't think Arnis De Leon is related to Kali De Leon stylistically. The Arnis De Leon I've heard about comes from Anding De Leon who trained under Remy Presas. He might be related to my teacher who runs a offshoot of Modern Arnis called Arnis De Leon here in the DFW.
Looking at Guro Jun's bio he seems like he has a lot of experience and would be great to train with. -
