Two interesting things from the article:
1) Moving to HI
and, more interesting:
2) a NINE fight deal

I'm sure that the UFC has clauses to allow them to back out but that's still pretty crazy given that Lauzon is still a relative newcomer to the big leagues of mma. Eight more guaranteed fights certainly makes training for a year or two full time feasible.

Uh, I don't think the fights are guaranteed. The UFC normally signs to three fight deals, of which the contract is evaluated at each fight.

Still this is interesting news especially since in earlier articles Joe had said that he turned down BJ Penn's offer to live in his fighter's house since the IT job he had was more stable.

The point being, they've signed him for eight more fights.

war lauzon. seriously i hope you're making some good money on this contract, because you deserve it. you are the epitome of a fighter who "fights to win", and guys like you are what make mma such a great sport.

I doubt he's making much on the contract, but when Toyo Tires comes out with their new "Creepy ************" tread pattern, he'll be raking it in.

I just laughed far too loudly at that.

By the way, did anyone else notice that Joe was paid twice as much as Brandon for the fight? The article said that Joe got $400 of Brandon's fine, and I remember that the fine was 10% of Brandon's purse (5% to NSAC and 5% to Joe). If that number is correct, then that means Brandon got paid $8,000 while Joe was paid $16,000. Is that kind of difference common in the UFC?
