technically you can punch him yes, but that punch would be highly unlikely to knock him out, and he would just rip your wrist off. depending on the exact situation he may even be able to sway away from the punch AND destroy your wrist in one movement.

on body triangle: pretty much as the above posters have said. if u arent cranking it on to hurt them in training, theres nothing wrong with it. they SHOULD be uncomfortable if you back mount them.

I don't know what any of the complaining is about.
A body triangle is just like any other attack - if it works, then great.

For one a body triangle from any position other than back mount is completely useless and pointless- I feel that too many people attempt it with the idea that someone will think they had a great idea or good technique.

From the back its viable, but seeing as neck cranks and spinal locks are illegal (although it wouldnt count against you in this position) you shouldnt be attempting to submit your training partners with a spinal lock.

if you were a blue and he was a white, it would be one thing. If you were huge and just tapping him with weight on his back, really, that would be another thing. If you had him in a good, legit body triangle, he could have ended the pain at any time with a quick tap but he chose to sit in it and say/do nothing.
There's no choice but to confront you, to engage you, to erase you. I've gone to great lengths to expand my threshold of pain. I will use my mistakes against you. There's no other choice.

I'd really like to know the correct way to do it. I've taken to body triangles just for body control, and cuz I have freakishly long limbs, when I have a guys back and a good portion of the time I wind up giving it up beacuse I basically just ankle lock myself if the guy has good RNC defense and keeps me in that position for an extended time.

The correct way is to put your free foot and hook it underneath their kneecap, as you can see at 0:17 in my vid

Did you do it that way before that throwdown? I remember we had a conversation about the hook at some point.

He never outright complained about using the move but he made me feel guilty about it.

So am I just a jerk or was he a little ego damaged from tapping? I normally wouldn't care but I like this guy and consider him a great training partner and friend.
Man, I do that all the time. I consider it a cheap tap because it's so easy to get out of it if you know what you're doing, but the newbs never know.

So I'd say the guy probably knew that and is enbarassed that he tapped to something so basic. Not your problem.
