    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Dana White changes his mind (re Hendo v Rampage)

So previously the upcoming fight between Dan Henderson and Quinton Jackson was supposed to unify the PRIDE middleweight and UFC light heavyweight belts. Apparently Dana has changed his mind and only the UFC light heavyweight belt will be on the line.

To me it seems as though this means PRIDE will stick around. Before it seemed as though the UFC's plan was to unify the belts, dissolve PRIDE and probably begin UFC-Japan or something. But since the PRIDE belt will continue to exist as a distinct championship, it follows that PRIDE will stick around as a distinct event, possibly keeping the same ruleset. Thoughts?

Funny, because I just saw an ad on Spike two days ago that said something like "two belts, one fight: UFC 73."

You probably misheard; UFC 73 features two title fights in one night.

yeah, probably heard "Two Belts, One NIGHT"

As for the non-unification. If they want to keep pride around I don't see how they could offer up a Pride belt with the fight being in the Octagon.

The plan from the beginning of the purchase of PRIDE and WEC was, afaik, to keep them separate but have the opportunity to do cross promotion superfights.

Is the Pride purchase really final? I heard from a business man that has a lot of contacts in Japan that its very difficult for a foreign company to buy a Japanese company, and occasionally the purchases are sort of banned after the fact. Maybe that's what is happening here.
