Style: BJJ--
a)I have no idea why you still call it back to back, the "start back to back then spin round to see who's fastest" type of sparring you did is pointless and every BJJ school I have heard of starts on the knees facing each other...
b)There is no rule about not standing up. Standing up is a valid and effective tactic in many circumstances, e.g. passing the guard
EDIT: Also, if you're in the UK you should come to the Belfast Throwdown -

I havnt seen to many BJJ comps but ending up both on your kneesface to face doesn't happen in Judo, does it in BJJ?
SO I think there both as bad as eachother - okay once in a while, but not how I prefer ground randori. -

Jesus aegis don't have a hissy fit. I'm not even sure what you're pissed about.
And Red, you have an excellent point, starting on the knees is unrealistic. It's just been my experience that when guys do back-to-back, as soon as the coach calls "go" they just spin round and the fastest pins the other. Whereas when we start on the knees in BJJ theres far more of a feeling out process. Ironically what's starting to happen to me a lot is, I stand up in an attempt to get top position and my opponent stands up with me, resulting in a far more realistic takedown contest - which I actually prefer. -

Sorry,
The top of the page says this
"You have been detained as an enemy combatant in the war against Crappling. The interrogators and dogs will be with you shortly. "
and my post has gone.
That's what I was pissed at.
I thought it was a pretty legit question, so I asked it.
People in other parts of the forums ask stupider questions.
