This was a major revelation since Barrett had provided supposed expert testimony as a psychiatrist and had testified in numerous court cases.

Barrett also had said that he was a legal expert even though he had no formal legal training.

The most damming testimony before the jury, under the intense cross-examination by Negrete, was that Barrett had filed similar defamation lawsuits against almost 40 people across the country within the past few years and had not won one single one at trial.

During the course of his examination, Barrett also had to concede his ties to the AMA, Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

Second, they lost an anti-SLAPP case, where the plaintiff proved that the so-called defamation lawsuit was a retaliatory one against protected speech (the alternative doctor defending himself against their accusations)

Ken, discussing the theories and effectiveness of TCM is probably going to work best if you bring up specific claims made by practitioners, and then we discuss them one at a time.

Because the likelihood is that some of it has been shown to have a positive effect, some of it is debunkable and some of it simply hasn't been scientifically tested.

The major issues with TCM, or any traditional medical system, is mainly that very little of it has undergone double blind peer reviewed studies at sufficient levels to be statistically useful and even among those areas which have received investigation it is unlikely that the theory behind why the methods work is correct about how the method actually works.

Which, believe it or not, is the situation with the vast majority of pharma on the market as well. Check out the Doctor's Promotional material that drug companies send out. Nearly every one has a section that begins "We have no idea why this drug works, but we have three theories and here they are" followed by vastly different and even contradictory models explaining effects.

If TBK did the following, I might consider replying:

    1. Actually knew what the **** he was talking about as opposed to posting random **** that "somebody that should know" might have written [fallacy of Appeal to Authority and Argument for Ignorance].
    2. Grew several inches so he might be classified as something other than a troll.
[insert several more random, impossible feats for TBK to perform].

Just so everyone understands (FITZ) legit questions and responses will be in the sticky. I don't want Quickfeet wasting his time between 2 threads.

Just seeing TBK link with no rebuttal gives you an idea what's coming here. If it gets to ugly it will be culled for relevant criticism and debate and the rest will be trollshidoed.
