    Kimbo MMA debut thread (spoilers)

Wow... I did not expect such a one sided match. I'm stunned from what I just saw. Kimbo looks like he has a decent career in MMA ahead of him.

Video of the fight- quick before its gone

I was suprised he won by submission though. Discuss.

Kimbo is a very scary man.

I would hate to be the other guy.

I was surprised by him winning via submission.

But beating up a 45 year old boxer whose peak was over in 1992 isn't exactly skillful. Mercer lost his two K-1 kickboxing matches and was only beating journeymen boxers during 2000 onwards.

And the relative lack of effort on his part is suspicious. Mercer threw less than 10 punches that entire match, 8 of them standing, and half of them jabs. From a guy whose strength is in his boxing ability, that's ridiculous.

Dude, it's the boxing world. They'll take notice and then forget about it a few minutes later.

Why does my head hurt so much?

Takes notice at what? A fighter whose prime was 15 years earlier getting choked out? Mercer was hardly outstruck or outboxed - he was outfought, in general, and no one held Mercer up as an exemplar of boxing, even if he did win Olympic gold and a heavyweight title in his heyday.

Look at the Wikipedia article on Mercer. After he lost the title in 1992, he consistently lost to the top fighters and was only beating journeymen fighters afterwards.

The real question now is...who does Kimbo fight next?

    Has there been any word?
