    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Upside down guard

Okay honestly, when I first saw it I thought it I had mixed feelings. Perhaps mixed feelings is too light a word, I thought it was the stupidest fucking thing I have ever seen. However I recently started trying it just for fun and to my suprise it actully WORKS and is great. My question is, how many y'all use the upside down guard and what are your feelings about it.

Your question is too vague for DHS. Gitmo please.

Too answer your question, I use it frequently with the gi, not so much in no-gi as it's more difficult to keep proper wrist control without sleeves. I frequently use it to stop their pass attempts while setting up the triangle at the same time.

I wanted to send this to Gitmo with a bad joke about the Chinese hell of upside-down drowning, but I'm pressed for time.

Youtube for Ryan Hall. Aesopian also has something about it on his blog, I believe.

I saw my judo coach do some sort of leg lock from reverse guard. He wasn't showing us how to do the technique, just after open mat the topic turned to leglocks, and I guess that's how gimmicks are born.
