    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Kicking a necessity for MMA?

Im at the point with my Sub Wrestling where Im pretty happy and I want to spend more time developing my standup. Ive never realy liked kicking much, I dont like taking my feet of the ground if I don't have to and I cant seem to generate much power anyway.

So my question is this if I'm planning on doing more MMA are there any kicks I MUST HAVE? Or will just workng on my boxing and clinch.takedowns be ok?

If the answer is "Yes you've gotta have some kicks", list your 3 favourites (preferably that dont require massive leg flexability) and why.

Yes you've got to have some grammar/spell check when trying to post on the Net where other people might read what you've typed.

Ok done. Now would you like to bring your obviously massive intellect on bear on the subject of the original post?

I'm glad you realized the massiveness of my intellect so soon.

Now for the subject of your original post:

My feeling/opinion from what and how you've written is that you've never received any kicking instruction from an instructor good in kicking. I suggest you ask your MMA instructor - according to your style field you've got to have one. Does he use kicks?

In the meanwhile, next time you'll be sparring, tell your sparring partners to attack you with a lot of kicks and then try to avoid them. Maybe you have a g*d given talent to win fights against kickers without kicking.

And, lest I forget - my 3 favourite kicks are:
    foot to the groin,
    knee to the groin,
    knee to the head.
    Not necessarily in this order.

Yeah, it's possible to beat a kicker without kicking.

Alex is right about the leg kicks being useful and not needing a lot of flexibility.

    I know it's possible.
I wrote that the OP should try and find out if he/she is also able to do that.

yeah id say no matter what you need to train how to do kicks so you can defend against them. I don't know of anywhere that would "just" teach you defenses to being kicked and not actually teach you to kick as well.

What Alex said - while the word kick can be substituted with any other technique/approach.
