Yes, I've seen that sort of stuff working in video of amateur kickboxing and San shou bouts with CMA styles that use those kind of big swinging movements. Is it 'optimal?' dunno. There's probably a good reason boxers don't do it.

I thought the overhand right in general was supposed to be a "Grapplers" punch... Throw it so your opponents ands come up and then shoot in, or fake a shoot attempt so your opponents hands come down then throw that. Seems like if you're a good striker you've got better things to do than wing that thing around.
