Yes they are. At GAMMA they won't let anyone hit anything other than the heavy bag with them. They were originally designed for a Bruce Lee movie, not as practical sparring gloves. They're glorified bag-gloves at best, but really they're little more than movie props.

i think they suck for heavy bag work because they offer little to no wrist support. additional punching weight and no wrist suppot = good bye cartilages?

an ex jkd guy did say to me that they were orginally a kempo apparatus... eh.

    nice FSD uniform btw... :D

That may be the single longest post I have yet to see on the interwebs.

I particularily enjoyed the part where the asshole sifu/sensei abused the helpless old man. That really helps to further the study of any martial art.

Old drunk guys are an increasing problem and it is good to know how to defend against them.

Please don't tell Lebell that I posted again. I promised him that I would stop.

I'll take it. Turned inside out, it'll be a good base for Ichigo's uniform jacket.

hey i got some questions regarding fanger kali vs gamma kali.

remember how we were taught to do "checking hands"? the idea was to block with the kali, then do the checking hand (like a slap on the other guy's hand) as a back up plan. which is, like ok, whatever.

then, they say "in real life, you'd hit the hand of the opponent and not the kali itself. it will work as a disarm at the same time". which is, like ok, whatever.

but when you think about it, if you "block" by hitting the hand and you did the "checking hand" on the other guy's hand (not the weapon) wouldn't the momentum of the weapon still hit you?

lurking current fangers are welcome to answer the question.

No, the theory is that if you block the other guys hand with your stick that his stick will be disarmed.
