As for you Muken, of course it's a totally different pass than the OP. He said his pass wasn't working because he kept getting broken back down, so this is a different pass he can try against the people who his original pass doesn't work on.
Sorry, I didn't mean it to come off as standoff-ish. It just sounded like you were responding to Gumby while he was still referring to the earlier pass.
For someone locking closed guard hard, I always need to go with a standing pass. To posture up before standing, I place my hands in 1 of 3 safe places: 1) biceps 2) floating ribs 3) postured up on lower stomach. I move from one to another when they transition to preserve energy. If they want to try and power me I keep one of those positions, then transition right when they move.
