    World Combat League

Ok so I just found out about this, it seems pretty interesting and much more entertaining than MMA as it seems to be more focused on style vs style and not just mma. What do you guys make of it? -

One of the guys from my gym fought for them, and I think he will be again. He is Nick 'The Ghost' Gonzalez.

just looks like good ol' kickboxing to me with a gimmicky ring and the added gimmick of teams.

What I've observed from WCL fights (compared to kickboxing ones) is that in WCL, both contestants keep charging more. It's almost a "lets see who falls first" or "lets see who can take more." It's good to watch.

But good God, what the **** was Chuck Norris thinking when he added teams???? Fight teams are fucking stupid.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

The WCL is predicated on the idea that defending yourself intelligently is for pussies. You get penalized points for lack of aggression, moving backwards, clinching, all kinds of crap. It turns every match into a 3 minute flailing slugfest.

On the plus side I saw a guy throw a 720 butterfly hook kick IN COMPETITION on there. So it's definitely got some entertaining ****....

I like the non stopness of it. I like the fact that each fighter only fights one round at a time. So they go balls out.

I do think the show is a little hookie and could be presented in a way that felt more "live". But there are some awesome strikers on the show for sure.

Yeah but people take kicks to the head and it does not even affect them. They may be tougher than I am, but they are not that tough....even my wife laughs at it.

She says "Just let them try that on Gonzaga"....btw my wife rules.

ON TOP of that...it is only 3 minute rounds...that's it...you're done.
