Style: I request to be banned--
I saw a Shogun fight in pride once (can't remember who he was fighting) and he did some flashy spinning dance-ish kick, and Bas Rutten said "...Excellent display of capoeira by Shogun..." I don't know what kind of martial arts fighting that capoeira would be particularly effective in, so I don't know how many well known fighters would actually employ it in their matches.

The vid is interesting but the Capoeria seems to just be there to look flashy, since he switches straight to a 'regular' MMA skillset as soon as he's close enough to. At least, I was pretty sure Capoeria didn't include groundfighting or punches to the head.... The kicking looked interesting but didn't really seem to do anything.
I'd be willing to bet that most effective Capoeiraists are cross training in either another striking art or BJJ to be successful at all.Last edited by socratic; 6/09/2007 4:31am at .
