OK... So, I looked it up, and it requires that you run between two markers that are about 20 meters apart, and you run back and forth in time with a beep that is played via an audio tape. The beep gets faster as you go along every 60 seconds.
You start out doing about 8.5 KM per hour, and it gets .5 faster every minute until you get pooped out, and that's where you fitness level is.
Sounds interesting. But, it also sounds like you could just be on a treadmill with some dude racketing the speed up every minute until you die.
How did you do? -

I have done two bleep tests. one on 20m apart and one on 15m. i think the fifteen metre one is the most common. i last did it a few months ago and went to 10.2. the last few were pretty hard, but it wasn't til i stopped that i realised the lungs were burning, and i felt like i was going to puke.
definitely felt it in the legs during the run though.
i once did to 9.4 on the 20m track and really really felt it. it was absolute hell, but that might have been the rum from the night before, what with the whole 'bleep test? those are fuckin easy' attitude.
since then, i took em a bit more seriously. -

Kwoww; what would you consider a better fitness test? i only know bleep test, cooper run, that vo2 max step test (never done it), and 1.5 mile / 2.41 km run in 11 mins 30 secs or less.
that last one is part of fitness test for irish defence forces, which also includes push ups sit ups etc.
