    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Take my survey!

I have an assignment to complete for my psychology class. Participants who fully complete the survey will receive rep from me in appreciation.

    ========

This survey is meant to assess your attitudes towards several contemporary issues in Western society. If you prefer to respond by private message, your results will not be revealed to anyone else, and will be discarded following completion of this study. At the end of the study, you will be informed as to the full nature of the survey, and what results developed from the data.

This survey is divided into two sections. Each section contains its own method of responding to questions. Please be sure to follow the directions for each section to avoid data errors.

    PART 1

In this first section, you will be presented with sentences that express a certain belief or opinion. Your task is to indicate the degree to which you agree or disagree with each sentence on a 4-point scale. On this scale:

    • A score of 1 indicates that you “strongly disagree” with the sentence
    • A score of 2 indicates that you “somewhat disagree” with the sentence
    • A score of 3 indicates that you “somewhat agree” with the sentence
    • A score of 4 indicates that you “strongly agree” with the sentence

Please answer every question honestly. Fractional or decimal scores are not allowed; only integer responses from 1-4 will be scored as correct answers. To facilitate data analysis, please do NOT put the question number before your reply; only input your response in your post.

For example, in replying to the first four questions, you would input your results as such:

    1
    4
    4
    2

You would NOT input your results like the following:

    #1. 1
    #2. 4
    #3. 4
    #4. 2

The first section contains a total of 38 questions:

    1. Everyone who has an eating disorder will completely recover after treatment
    2. I support laissez-faire / free market economic policies
    3. The national government should not make imported goods cost more through tariffs and/or taxes
    4. Morbid obesity represents an utter lack of motivation to stay healthy (note: an example of morbid obesity is a man with a height of 5 feet, 8 inches, and a weight of 260lbs)
    5. I feel more comfortable telling jokes about fat people than I do about racial/ethnic minorities
    6. Biological traits such as genes and brain chemistry are established risk factors for eating disorders
    7. At least 20% (or one out of five) women have had eating disorder symptoms at some point in their life
    8. Minimum wage is a good thing
    9. Well-off, White/Caucasian women are more likely to have eating disorders than minorities and/or less-affluent people
    10. Genetics, hormones, and other biological factors can make it impossible to have a normal body-weight.
    11. Societal factors make it easier for people to become overweight or obese
    12. Prevention programs can decisively keep people from getting eating disorders at all ages
    13. People with eating disorders either starve themselves or throw up after eating
    14. The national government should guarantee a minimum income for the elderly, the disabled, and other citizens who cannot work
    15. A person’s weight is completely within their control
    16. Overweight or obese people are inherently less healthy than people within normal weight guidelines
    17. Eating disorders are “all in someone’s head.”
    18. There is currently an “obesity epidemic” in America
    19. Individuals know how to spend their money better than the national government
    20. If a child is obese, it’s primarily the fault of the parents
    21. The Body Mass Index (BMI) is an effective way to determine obesity
    22. Size discrimination (a.k.a. sizism) is no different than discriminating based on race, gender, ethnicity, or national origin (note: these four characteristics are ones protected against discrimination under American national laws)
    23. Eating disorders are real, but there are plenty of “fakers” who claim they have the disease for attention
    24. I feel I could tell if someone had an eating disorder
    25. Exercise and a low-calorie diet can solve most people’s obesity problems
    26. If I was 20% heavier than my current weight, I would be severely distressed
    27. As long as people with eating disorders don’t regularly vomit, their physical health should be ok.
    28. The national government should bail out critical industries such as airlines, farms, and car manufacturers if they end up in financial trouble
    29. Public institutions such as hospitals and community centers should spend money on equipment to accommodate obese or morbidly obese patrons (i.e. MRI machines that can hold larger people or chairs that can bear a greater load)
    30. Men can get full-blown eating disorders too
    31. Obese people need more “reality checks” than verbal encouragement if they want to lose weight
    32. Assistance to the needy should come from individual contributions, not the national government
    33. I know someone with disordered eating behaviors
    34. I know people who claimed their excess weight was due to being “big-boned”
    35. Businesses should have the right to set wages, hiring practices, and the like without governmental interference
    36. I think it’s okay if someone is obese due to a disability or medical condition (i.e. taking a prescribed medicine that increases appetite)
    37. If someone is deliberately starving themselves, that’s a definite indicator of anorexia
    38. The less that the national government is involved in the economy, the better

    ================

    PART 2

For each question in Part 2, rather than using the 1-4 scoring, indicate whether you mostly agree with either sentence A or sentence B by indicating “A” or “B”. Again, please only input your answer; do NOT indicate the number of which question you're answering. For instance, the following is the right way to answer:

    A
    B
    A

    B

The following is NOT the right way to answer because you put in the number of the question:

    You still got rep.

And it's my SPSS, not my scantron.

And having been gone from SPSS work for about 3 years, it majorly sucks having to refresh how to do half the **** I learned in Stats II.

    ===

Cracky, I don't care if you think it's stupid; I'm not using responses with missing data.
