My favorite part of the Mishima suicide story is that after storming the offices of the JSDF military academy he had the cadets assembled so that he could make his big pro-emperor, nationalist, "quit being a bunch of passivist pussies" speech and that the cadets laughed, cracked jokes, and jeered.

He was trying to inspire a coup to put the emperor back into power and the cadets at Japa's sole military academy fucking heckled him >_<

That had to burn.

If you like the guy you should watch Ghost in The Shell, 2nd GIG. A large part of the plot is devoted to a group founded based on his actions.

1. YES/NO: rational discourse and democratic methods are inherently better ways of settling disagreements than resorting to violence.

2. YES/NO: lethal force is a regrettable last resort, only to be applied when other less destructive options are no longer available.

Well if it were a judgement on the subject's morality or heroism, we'd just repost an article about Norman Borlaug every month.
