A 9/11 Hypothetical....

Whenever I get to talking with the common folk about the events of 9/11, I sometimes ask them: If they personally could've have stopped 9/11 from ever taking place, would they? (I don’t care what scenario you want to play, a prophet, psychic, CIA analyst, FBI Special agent, etc., take your pick)

The answers I receive are predictable and at the same time interesting. Naturally, given these circumstances, most would. I for one would not.

What are your thoughts?

I would. Then wed have a relatively stable situation, the appearence of having a sane president, less govt spending, and oh yeh, 3000 MORE AMERICANS.

That means... no emotions to charge the decision making, and no emotional excuse could be used as justification.

And to threadjack... evern noticed how there aren't a whole lot of american terrorists going after the nations that tend to produce the terrorists coming after us? Or for that matter, a lot of Israeli terrorists against Palistineans?

Kfss has basicly said if he had the power to stop over 3000 needless deaths he wouldn't. That alone tells you something.

Now he can be seen in two ways 1) Genius given the earths over population, humans as a virus, yadda yadda yadda or 2) A **** stirring asshole.

this is a great tradigity, but at the same time much good has come from it. Much good has come from so much sarrow, we have set up trade with iraq for oil, we are more a united country truely again, it slowed or stopped the recession. But on the other side of things we lose a sense of freedom and 3000+ people died on that date and in the war to follow.

So you ask if i would change the past, well that would conflict in many ways people would not be born and who know what else would have happen.

Without 9/11, there's no pretense other than liberation to enter Afghanistan and Iraq, no line of marching soldiers for Halliburton and BP to ride in behind.

J-kid; Where do I begin? We've killed hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi women and children through sanctions and bombing in order to steal their oil, our 'unity' is an impotent, sheeplike jingoism with blind submission to the President at its core, and the recession is in full swing as the unemployment rate ramps up. You're god damn right we're losing freedom; security isn't free, and there's a choice to be made.

You know why the unemployment rate is rising? Because productivity is rising faster than job creation. Corporate bastards are squeezing the work of two men out of one and keeping his pay the same. I, for one, plan to aid the unemployment problem by fucking around and forcing my employer to hire someone to do the work I subversively avoid. I recommend everyone else do the same.

Four hour day, eight hours pay! Living wages for everyone; demand what you need to live from those for whom you make life so easy! The working man is not to be taken lightly.

Some people support the idea that we DID know about it and did nothing. Reason? It gives us the license to go after the larger problem which could arguably be the worldwide network of terrorism (most likely state supported by some of our friends--"friendly governments").

Because of what happened, we are now justified in actually invading a country and taking out a despot. Iran, North Korea...are you paying attention?

Flamecheck...I think Dubya has been doing great in the war against terrorism.

If the plot had been stopped, imagine how ridiculous it would have all sounded...Terrorists? Actually flying planes into the White House? Into the Twin Towers? It certainly would not have given us license to "invade" Afghanistan and keep troops there for going on two years...let alone "invade" Iraq.

Anyway, I suppose our authorities, local police, undercover agents, intelligence certainly have a terrible MORAL Gray Area to deal with everyday. Do you let one person die in order to uncover the Kingpin? Do you let one of your own agents die..or two or a dozen... to win the war? Do you have sex with that person you are trying to get information from? would your wife understand?

I would have to say I would try to stop it anyway. I could not allow it to happen if I could help it.

Afterwards, I would do everything possible to point out the larger problems though which could include worldwide hatred of America's foreign policy as well as state sponsored terrorism and hope that our leaders would permanently solve the larger problems.
