BJJ in Dreary Old Adelaide...?

Hey.

I trained with the old DeBeen guys when they were at Thebarton (2000 til around 2003). Then the old instructor got kind of drug fucked and it all went to hell. I know some of the guys went and formed SABJJ, which is at Prospect and if that is near enough for anyone to train at, it would be worthwhile. The guys are a good bunch.

I don't train there as it is too far from home (live down south). Am keen to check out isohealth though as is closest to home for me I guess, although SDT looks kind of interesting.

Another vote for isohealth from me based on coaching skills - the stand-up/ clinch is really good too.

SABJJ at Prospect has a very high skill level. They do real well in comps. But time-table and the tendency to need to go flat-out for two hours at a time is too much for my old body.

I trained at ABS for a bit too a while ago and it was very much stand-up orientated at that stage, but I have heard since then that the jits there is going through the roof.

And lol, "dreay, old" Adelaide has a lot going for it, especially after spending over 7 years in Canberra (had fun doing jits there though for the last year or so)!

My suggestion is to check out a few clubs see which gels with your expectations, personality and training goals. Plenty to choose from.

whats wrong with canberra i love that place, i go over there at least once a year to visit a mate, i cant stop going to the moose as well

Pfft, I picked up a tidy little backbacker that turned out to be a welsh lesbian at the Moose. It was a rough night.

"what more do you want from a pub" er, not to be filled with AJ's :)

And I am not sure any of the licenced premises in Canberra actually constitutes a pub! :)

SA BJJ is on Level 1/ 194 Prospect Rd, Prospect. There is a small carpark there so if you make it a few minutes early you can usually score a park.

My old timetable has jits on at 6:30 till 8:30 Monday through Thursday. Though this may have changed since I last went.

Enjoy. If you don't find it is what your looking for, don't forget about isohealth on henley beach road (prolly a distance from you if you are around prospect way).

Otherwise have a blast. Jits rocks and they are a good mob.
