    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Bow to your...Sonsaeng?!?

Dig the instructor tag, brothers and sisters.

Yesterday, during the Precepts Ceremonies for Buddha's Birthday, my teacher presented me with my Instructor's License in Gwonbeop.

I should have some pictures to post soon, including a few of Stick and Ninjew, since they were there.

I had no clue my teacher was going to do this, he literally called me out in the middle of the ceremony.

He wants to get a gwonbeop school started here at the temple, and I feel really honored. I hadn't even realized it, but he put my name out in the local Korean papers as the temple's instructorin the add for the Precepts Ceremony in the paper. So yeah...I guess this is just the beginning...

    Oh, yeah, that too- CONGRATULATIONS!

That was a pretty interesting little event though.

Unlike many LARPers out there, you really can say you've got your creds from a Buddhist monk..... crazy.

Thanks. I had no idea he was gonna do that, so it was awesome that you could be there for it.

I hope it wasn't too long & dull for you. There's some pics of you and Plaz reading one of the sutras.

Congratulations 108! Sounds like a pretty big honor.

My knowledge of Korean is very limited, but I'm learning. From just the name, I would guess that Gwonbeop is very heavy on hand techniques (gwon)--as opposed to Taegwondo which put a lot of emphasis on the kicking (tae). Is that an accurate statement? It wouldn't surprise me if I'm completely wrong. Chinese "Long Fist" involves a lot of acrobatic kicking, from what I've read, and it uses the same "fist" hanja, near as I can tell: 拳

I've never heard of Gwonbeop before and I'd be interested in learning more about it.
