The only guy I KNOW has a BJJ rank is the guy teaching the class. There are quite a few guys with wrestling experience, but I have a couple of years of wrestling too, so still the toolage so far. I guess I'm really just getting to the point where I'm ready to try it out in competition, so time for me to go hit up some NAGA events.

Does your instructor roll with the students? Ours makes it a point to roll with as many as possible, but I've never been in a class of 50.

From what I can remember he spends most of his time going from group to group helping people get their technique right and answering questions. He doesn't really have time during the 1 hour class to get any rolling in with us.

Fifty students trying to learn from one instructor in just one hour? Look, obviously you know the merits of your own class way more than anyone here does but still, that sets alarm bells ringing.

I'll be doing that at the throwdown. INcidentally, there must be more oversite/evaluation going on that I'm aware of during class since today 3 or 4 guys got moved from the fundamentals class to the advanced class. One of which was one of the guys I rolled with today, who happily tooled me reasonably well. I'm annoyed a little because he was the fourth guy I rolled with so I was exhausted so it was a little TOO easy for him to tool me. But It definately pointed out some weak spots in my game for me. Much happiness.
