My favorite way to counter attempted chokes, punches etc is to grab the offending arm and lift them into a fireman's carry, or an armpit arm bar if I'm feeling lazy.

When people ask if I do martial arts, I say "No, martial arts are for fags and losers". That tends to stop the conversation right there.
I did have a guy at field training that wanted to show me his commando unarmed training. He was like "Watch this, put me in a headlock". I, being a dick, slap a RNC on him. He starts panicing and flailing, and when I let go says "You attacked me wrong dude". I had a laugh over attacking him wrong."Emevas,
You're a scrapper, I like that."-Ronin69

i got put in a sleeper hold, as my "what would you do if" attacker called it. only he just stood there, behind me, applying the choke. furthermore, it wasn't a very tight choke (bad execution). so, turning my chin in the direction of his elbow, i could easily breathe. i then asked if he really wanted to know, before reaching for his shoulder and throwing him.
i guess he now understands why in the UFC they wrap their legs around the opponent for that move, rather than just stand there with a grin on their face like in WWF or whatever theyre calling it these days.
