What are your thoughts on this art? Anyone have experience with it? How does it compare to the other grappling arts out there such as BJJ, Sambo, Judo, etc. Thanks.

me and my jujitsu teacher steve crawford (he also trains phrost) did some training with walt back in the late 90's when we were all competing in alot of pankration events. wlt is a super cool guy, back thenm he was calling his system lysaks mixed martial arts, obviously he has evolved a little. i'm sure its pretty good.

I've trained walt's stuff at a seminar a few years ago. Basically it's BJJ with foul tactics added in for Self Defense (Same basics positions from BJJ & other combat sport grappling arts i.e. side control, mount, guard etc. with considerations of groin attacks, biting & eye gouging). Their guard game is a little weak in my opinion (not enough options from that position), but for the most part it's a huge step up from most of the so called self defense experts systems out there.

Walt Lysak Jr. that is. I'm was looking for a dojo in my area and came across this http://www.realityconnection.com. I did do a search already but I'm still skeptical.

Did you read the previous threads? Necro-ing them wouldn't be terrible.
(there's also a bad reference here: http://www.bullshido.net/forums/show...ighlight=lysak)
My impression is that he's a stupidly overmarketed jiujitsu teacher who talks about teh str33tz. I'm actually going to buy his video, partially just to see if he's legit or not (though, if he actually does have legitimate rank in BJJ or JJJ, I'm thoroughly unqualified to judge him in the legitimacy of his grapples).
I'll let you know when I get it.
Does this guy have (B/J)JJ rank?

Yeah I did look at those before I made this thread. In his credentials it says he's an 8th degree black belt in JJ; thing is I'm not sure if it's credible because it also lists he's a black belt in Ninjutsu.

Oof. Now I want to know his lineage before I do anything.
I'll try calling him when I'm not at work. I'll look up the phone myself, unless anyone wants to post it here.... :) ?

I haven't trained with this guy, but he shows a few of the hallmarks of a bullshido peddler:
admission to multiple sketchy martial arts "halls of fame"--check
multiple high dan ranks in several martial arts--check
10th dan/originator of own martial art--check
All that said, he at least appears to be active in the submission grappling/MMA scene in Massachusetts. It's just possible that he might not suck.

BS of the highest order. The first click on the website makes that apparent. Take a look at his 'groundfighting certification process':
(quote= Walt Lysak Jr.)
Whole Ground fighting Kit
Welcome to the reality ground fighting certification process. The certification process is simple and effective. You set up three ninety minute study sessions per week and three, ninety minute training sessions per week. If you want to do four, five or six that is fine as long as you can handle it, but three of each is the minimum.
WHAT DO I NEED TO GET STARTED?
YOU MUST FIRST PURCHASE
Unlocking the Combat Code Book
Combat Kickboxing Book
Sento Method Reality Ground Fighting Series 1-9
Sento Method Bonus DVD on "Fight Principles and Grounded Defense"
YOU WILL NEED
DVD player and Television
Pen or Pencil
HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?
He goes on to describe the 'study' and 'training' processes which are done by watching his videos and practicing at home. He also says you must do 15 minutes of stretching, for which he sells another video to you.
I'll look for his number.
