    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Need Crazy Monkey Counter Drills

Need good counter drills coming off CM defense.

    E.g opponent throws jab

Reply: CM block with left hand, cross, left hook, cross

Reply2: CM block with left hand, cross, left hook, cross, right low kick

    Opponent throws jab/cross

Reply: CM block, block, step out with left foot, left hook, right cross.

Reply2: CM block, block, step out with left foot, left hook, right cross, left uppercut, right knee

I just made these up, I need good counters that will work.

I want to start off with simple 2-move counters first, then slowly build them up to longer combos once I can get the 2 moves to work in sparring.

I want to work them into muscle memory with a training partner till I can pull it off reflexively in sparring.

Pls only post back if you have experience with CM, thanks.

    Some less obvious ones:
Off of any hand strike to your head: CM block, go for necktie/thai clinch

    CM Block, arm swallow/single leg

CM block, chopping punch w/ same hand, follow up w whatever

CM block, same arm elbow spike to face (use a mitt, not partner w/ headgear for this one)

Codos thanks for the reply. Could you elaborate on the following:

    arm swallow/single leg (What's this?)

chopping punch w/ same hand (what's a chopping punch?)

I'd like to stick to simple counters (jab, cross, uppercut, hook) for now.

An arm swallow is a funny looking single leg where you yank their lead hand down and trap their lead arm to their body using your neck and shoulder while you scoop up their leg with your hands. The idea is to take away their ability to strike you with their lead arm while you are shooting in.

Chopping punch: when doing a CM block, your hand is near the top of your head. From this position, it can hit in a downward motion using a hammerfist or similar motion. Its not that powerful, but it can be an alright setup. Sometimes I like to hit down with a short slapping motion to set up something else, like an inside leg kick.

You could try the CMA forum.
You can't make people smarter. You can expose them to information, but your responsibility stops there.

Crazy Monkey is okay if you're primarily a grappler, but if you spending much time learning good strking, spend more time learning to slip and counter off of that.

Oh, another one that I sometimes throw in there is throwing a hammerfist to the groin from the CM block. I don't do a lot with it because I so rarely get to use it.
EDIT: this workes best with a small knfie in a pakal grip in your hand.

I do but I can't really figure out what you are after. There is a ton of information out there about CM striking. If you want the combinations Rodney King does get one of his books or videos. Otherwise do what I do and use it as just one defense depending on the situation. I throw any of my regular combinations from it just like I do from my natural stance. Honestly if it required a seperate set of skills and combinations I'd throw it out.
