New York MMA Examiner Style: magic FUCKING powers!--
Something of a tangent, and also odd that I would start posting again to ask, but what's the last name of the old MMA coach you reffered to, Dai? I understand there are probably a great many coaches named Doug in the world but I figured I'd still check. It might be funny if we used to train under the same guy.

My big pevee is that I doubt that he has any type of liability insurance for his classes, or his 2 tournaments.

For any commercial venue, this should be the "red flags" that this joker does not know what he is doing! -

Not that I want to potentially drop a clue for him, but working under the umbrella of a Bodyworks gym, I think he'd get the liability thing covered by them - I'm sure they make members sign a waiver of some sort, so he'll be free to do whatever in there.
Hopefully the warnings by local community members will be enough to cause this gym to reconsider allowing him to hold classes in their facility.
Then again, I would be happy to know the energetic local frat boys who all think they could take on Matt Hughes are safely contained in a class where they're getting nothing but a high-priced pussification. -

Well, that all depends on the local laws.

And tournaments are a different matter. Tournaments are considered a separate event apart from the normal coverage of insurance. And a structured set of rules must be adhered to, such as the use of safety gear, and the enforcement of contact rules.
It was evident in the photos that Coda had on the "website" of the last tournament that he sponsered that no rules as such were in effect.
This shows that this guy takes certain liberties with the welfare of not only his students, but with others that come in contact with him. One good lawsuit could wipe out this joker for ever, should a disgrunted parent chose to do so.
I have always believed that if you are going to teach, then you should do it the right way, and understand that your students' safety is paramount to anything else!
