Cracked Ribs (renamed from Dangerous crushing...)

Is it possible to have your rib cage crack at the seam in the back? sometimes i feel like my sternum will collapse and all my ribs will jab into eachother when i'm being crushed from side mount while on my side, if the guy is like 230lbs or more. I'm 130.

Can a rib cage crack from pressure fairly easily?

No, it isn't easy. The weight would have to all be focused on one rib, and you'd have to be very, very weak.
Tough is not how you act, tough is how you train.

Even so, get another training partner, you wont learn much being squashed all the time.

Maybe if you are old with weak bones. I hear that when firemen/ambulance personnel perform CPR on old people, their ribs often snap like twigs.

Don Gwinn, you're an ambulance driver. True?

Not true at all. You'll find your submission defence gets much, much better. Also, grabbing half guard from all sorts of weird positions will come to seem like second nature.

One time a dude that weighed around 260 stacked me up, and my ribs made a really loud cracking noise.

It turns out that occasionally ribs can make a really loud cracking noise, without any actual damage.

Anyway, as long as you have a variety of people to train with, going against really big dudes is not a problem. When I started BJJ i weighed like 150, and was by far the smallest in my class. It made me work on defense and escapes, the very areas that new bjj guys need to focus on.

You will find that your guard is a good area to train when faced with monsters.

Unless the guy is kneeing you while he's squishing you, no, they will almost certainly not break.

I think the most effective CPR does cause breaks in the ribs.

actionfad, I can relate slightly but I find the weak point is the front and side for me, fractured them doing ground work. But my bones aren't really that strong.
