The Life and Times of Ninjitsu
Ninjitsu was a child shrouded in mystery, with a dozen different stories of his origins circulating through the student body. The most popular, however, was that he was the spawn of two astral spies.
Students' first accounts of Ninjitsu were somewhat uncertain, but the general consensus was that he "just kinda, ya know, showed up," sometime during 8th grade year.
Ninjitsu was, at first, your average nerdy kid. Out-of-shape, fickle, and self-absorbed, he quickly became the favorite punching bag of the leading clique at this school, the Jocks. The head jock, Bushi, was a constant source of Ninjitsu's beatings. The jocks, while only 10% of the student body, ruled the school with an iron fist, leaving the other three cliques (Shop Class, Art Class, and Home Economics) to simply defer to the Jock's judgment.
In the middle of his freshman year, Ninjitsu decided he'd had enough. He gathered some of his D&D friends and began his very first night-time raid against the jocks. Using custom-made cherry bombs and crude climbing implements, they managed to toss explosives into the Jock Dormitory Windows, thoroughly ruining the Jocks sleep on the night before the Homecoming game. Although the jocks attempted to catch Ninjitsu and his allies, Ninjitsu's pre-determined bug-out phrase, Chi-zu Ite! ("Cheese It!"), sent the raiders into the night uncaught.
From then on, Ninjitsu carried out many more raids against the jocks, sometimes just out of spite, and sometimes on behalf of one of the other three cliques. From his base of operations, the A/V Room, Ninjitsu became a champion for Nerds against Jocks. Some of the students from this period even alleged that Revenge of the Nerds was loosely based on Ninjitsu's school years.
At the beginning of senior year, Ninjitsu's school district was re-zoned, and the school no longer had a sports team, so the jocks were integrated into the other three cliques. With no target for his aggression, and with clique dynamics rapidly changing, Ninjitsu simply faded into obscurity. He graduated with only his mom applauding.
Upon his entry into his local university, Ninjitsu completely withdrawed from the stealthy pursuits of his younger years, instead focusing on his grades.
In the middle of his third year at college, however, he was approached by a new student claiming to have heard stories about Ninjitsu from high school.
I heard you beat up 8 jocks at the same time! Is it true that you actually climbed up the side of the jock dorm without any help? And the thing about you throwing chi balls, is that true too?
In the face of such eagerness, Ninjitsu simply confirmed all the young mans claims, and at his request, began to share with him all his tales from high school, with CERTAIN embellishments.
It wasn't long before the young man told all his friends about how cool Ninjitsu was, and all HIS friends soon organized into a group known as "Ninjers." The Ninjer, obsessed with their new Nerd-King, passed on the stories to whoever would listen, and over time, the stories became even MORE embellished.
The Ninjers still operate at that University, and Ninjitsu still hangs around, despite having dropped out before graduating. Ninjitsu works as an assistant manager at his local Game Stop, and much like his arch enemies the Jocks, still talks about the old days when he would run across water on a daily basis.
Ninjitsu, a shadowy history.
