Contribute properly or stay off the thread.
At the moment you're just reinforcing the idea that GKR is full of kids doing short bus remedial krotty.

I have compiled some interesting information on it.

I am getting that feeling too. I guess there is no stopping a money making machine. Maybe people will read these threads and see the light. One can hope.

Sad thing is, even without the gherkin, that this is what a lot of people actually want. They don't want to sweat, bleed and occasionally vomit, they want to 'be' a black belt. And they want to get it in an environment that doesn't challenge them while being told that it DOES challenge them.

Worst of all are the borderline people who might some day take up something decent but end up experiening this crap and go away thinking martial arts is rubbish. They're lost to other clubs and they lose out themselves.

I also object to the... let's just call them lies... that get told. 'We teach you to deal with real-world assaults; do your katas well enough and you'll be a deadly ninja-smashing machine'. That sort of false confidence is both dangerous and, well, false.

The same people will lecture about how the martial arts are built on integrity and honour but they're telling their students things that - at best - they don't know to be true. And I bet that most of the time they KNOW that what they're saying isn't true.

Honour and integrity = tools to manipulate your students. Yup, that's definitiely the way forward.

Now me, I believe that martial arts are built upon knowing good ways to harm your fellow man (and woman). And being willing and able to do it.

Good stuff on the MAP thread.

I have a **** load of stuff from GKR senseis (scans of training manuals, "how to" guides to running a class etc), if you're interested in making trouble for them... information etc is always handy to have.

You don't have PM privileges here yet (or on MAP, for that matter), but if you need to contact me it's my username + @hotmail.co.uk.

Thanks for the offer, I did see one of those scans that you posted. They made me giggle.
I'll give it some thought. Thanks again.

Does the Regional instructor teach the general public, or only those on the sensei training?
